Test Results
Blood tests and other investigations like x-rays and scans requested by surgery staff will all be looked at by the GPs and filed in the records. If they are abnormal or further conversations needs to be had, you will be written to or a text message is sent to you to arrange an appointment.
A vast majority of results however will be filed as:
- “Normal”
- “Satisfactory”
- “Abnormal, but expected”
- “Abnormal, no action”
This is because the doctor has looked at the results and has deemed them to be normal or very close to normal range and hence no further action needs to be taken, or that they are abnormal in the abnormal range but expected given your medical conditions, age, medications etc or that you are already on the correct antibiotics. Doctors’ comments on your results are very specific for your medical history, and any need for further management will be communicated to you.
