For some time, the practice, along with the Suffolk and North East Essex ICB, has been working to identify a solution for a new practice that would serve local people. A preferred option has been identified which continues to be worked through. We can report that planning permission for the development of a scheme is due to be submitted imminently.
The practice and the ICB are in discussion with the landlord of the site to agree a deal for the use of the building whilst a business case continues to be developed, for consideration. We remain determined to find an alternative, affordable solution that will deliver improved primary care facilities for patients and the practice team at Cardinal.
As much as we would all like this to be processed at speed, there are many elements of the legal and planning process that need to be worked through. It is therefore highly unlikely that the new facility would open during the early part of 2026.
